This is definitely an "annoy" post. And if I already did something like this, it's better.
Media is definitely a gift, an art. Except for when it's used to flaunt the most illogical stereotypes and prejudices ever created. Let me just go through my "favorite" ones...
Let's just go through one of my mom's soap operas, okay? There's a simple girl that works her butt off and is perfectly nice but she's different compared to the rich girls at school because those girls are mean and spoiled and they talk weird and they are dramatic and they're jealous because the introverted cute guy is in love with the first girl. Not only is this plot blatantly cliche with the whole "girl changes guy" thing, but the main point is that it's just overflowing with stereotypes.
One, poor doesn't always equal nice, and rich doesn't always equal mean. Maybe the rich take the many opportunities to take advantage of others, but that doesn't mean the amount of money in your bank account ultimately defines your personality.
Two, most girls are emotional idiots that talk nasally and use text lingo in their spoken language. Haha, right. Think of all the females in the world. Now with the exception of just a few, we all just run around squealing, "OMG! I haven't seen you in, like, a thousand days! Did you see so-and-so, he's sooooo ADORBS! I'm gonna have to go up and copy his homework, because it's not like I understand it anyway!" That sounds about right, surrre.
Yeah, that was two stereotypes and there are plenty more that are equally horrific, but I'm already tired. I'm telling you, I put everything into these posts.
But sheesh, people, can't you change things up instead of adding to these stupid stereotypes?
